0 Views: The Best Of The Worst Of YouTube

When it comes to online video, there is YouTube and then there is everyone else. Increasingly, videos on the service are getting a million or more views and some stars (like that Bieber kid) are getting made. So just upload a video to YouTube and became the next big thing, right? Well, not exactly. While there are an increasing number of massively huge videos on YouTube, there's also just more videos in general. And despite what you may think, not all of them can be watched every second of the day by everyone on the planet. In fact, there are plenty of -- and very likely more -- videos on the service with very, very few views. And believe it or not, there are some with zero views. Thankfully, there is a Tumblr blog to highlights those.]]>

Former Playdom Employee Sentenced To Jail Time In Zynga Lawsuit

Last fall Zynga sued rival gaming developer Playdom (recently acquired by Disney) for an array of issues including misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, and breach of the duty of loyalty. In short Zynga accused Playdom of stealing its confidential 'Zynga Playbook'. The case continues, but the drama has reached its peak. The court today held one former Zynga and Playdom employee, Raymond Holmes, in contempt and sentenced him to ten days in county jail and a $4,000 fine. Fortunately for Holmes, Judge Mark Pierce then suspended the sentence. That means Holmes won't do the time unless he continues to, well, piss off Judge Pierce. The full order is embedded below.]]>

Why Not Just Call It “Windows Live Meh”?

Earlier today, Erick wrote about Windows Live Sync becoming Windows Live Mesh. Basically, it's a service that allows people to sync files between PCs and with the cloud. As a product, it sounds great -- as Erick says, there's definitely a huge need for someone to do this right. But as usual with Microsoft, I have to ask: what on Earth is up with the branding?Yes Microsoft needed to combine Live Sync and Live Mesh as they were similar products. But doesn't "Sync" make a lot more sense than "Mesh"? What the hell is a mesh? I had to Google it.]]>

Reddit And Condé Nast Spar Over Ads Promoting Legalization Of Marijuana

Later this year, California residents will be voting on Proposition 19, a measure that would legalize marijuana in the state. And, given how much controversy revolves around the issue (think of the children!), we're bound to see plenty of ads in the run-up to the November 2 election. Thing is, you won't be seeing ads in favor of legalization on some of the web's most popular sites, because their parent companies are afraid of being associated with a pro-marijuana stance. The issue has come to a head over at Reddit, which reported to its users earlier today that its parent company Condé Nast would not allow it to accept paid ads in support of Prop. 19. Redditors predictably rebelled, voting up numerous stories in favor of the law (see screenshot below). And now, in a daring move, Reddit is fighting back too: it's announced that it will begin running ads supporting Proposition 19, free of charge.]]>

Zuckerberg: Facebook Photos Used 5 Or 6 Times More Than Competitors — Combined

Yesterday, Facebook held a developer's garage event at their headquarters in Palo Alto. To kick things off, CEO Mark Zuckerberg took the stage to talk a bit about the history of Facebook. Notably, he focused on Facebook Photos as being a key catalyst that led to everything the social network is today. He noted that when they launched the product, they didn't have all of the features that their competitors did. For example, they didn't have high-resolution photos and you couldn't print them. But one thing they did have was the social element -- and this changed everything."Those features by themselves were more important than anything else combined," Zuckerberg said of the social elements of Facebook Photos. He then dropped the competitor bomb. "The photo product that we have is maybe five or six times more used than every other product on the web -- combined," Zuckerberg stated.]]>

What is the Difference in Motorcycle Tires?

2:25 am

By Nick Dinic

Your motorcycle tires are very important as you have to have them perfect at all times. When you are looking for the tires that suit your ride, a few of the major brands you have to choose from are Avon, Pirelli, Michelin, Metzeler, Bridgestone, Continental and Dunlop. Make sure you have the correct types for your motorbike. If you don’t you may run into some trouble, some of which can turn out to be rather serious and sometimes dangerous. There are a few considerations one has to bear in mind when looking for tires. Below we will discuss some of them.

When it comes to Dunlop, you should check the pressure of your tires on a regular basis. Check them when they are cold, and usually every fortnight too. Check them for abrasions, cuts, bulges and any other signs of damage regularly.

You also shouldn’t use any liquid preparations when you want to stop deflation. This is likely to be the cause of protruding valves which will lead to tire pressure loss. Dunlop is an excellent name that is trusted by millions all around the world. They are quality tires that will last you a very long time if they are properly looked after.

Michelin have been producing tires since the year 1891, so they definitely know what they are doing. By fitting two of these tires onto your motorcycle you are sure to go further before having to change your wheels again. Make sure your tire pressure is always perfect and you treat the bike with respect. That way it will always take you where you need to go, with no hassles!

If motorbike racing is your passion, Bridgestone is there for all your tire needs. They might be a little on the pricey side, but if you want good tires that is what you should expect. They are made from the finest quality materials and are perfect for your prized motorbike.

When it comes to the Metzeler tire range there are many different options for you to choose from. They are all high quality tires that will see you through a good couple of years, as long as you look after them. There are different types for different motorbikes; you make the choice.

Continental tires for your motorbike are also an excellent option. Although they are expensive they are sure to see you through your hard bike times. All the road trips, short drives and racing with your beauty - your bike needs to be pampered, and there is no better way to do that than to treat her with Continental tires.

When it comes to turnover, Pirelli is the fifth biggest manufacturer of tires in the world. That fact alone should give you an idea of how popular they are, and show you that they are good otherwise people wouldn’t keep going back. These are generally cheaper than some of the other brands, but then again that would depend on where you buy it from. The same goes for Avon tires; these keep you in control of your motorcycle at all times, no matter the weather conditions.

Motorcycles Made for a Woman

3:18 pm

By Nick Dinic

Most motorcycles are designed with men in mind, and it is true that they are the majority of the operators. However, there are many women who want to do more with a motorcycle than just ride on the back of it. Finding a motorcycle designed to fit a woman is more difficult and the choices are limited. However, it is very possible to find one if you know what to look for. More and more motorcycle manufacturers are becoming aware of this market.

For too long female motorcycle owners have been stereotyped as reckless women wearing all leather, smoking and drinking with a wild gang of bikers. Approximately 10% of motorcycle owners are women, and many more are interested in purchasing one. These women come from all walks of life. Some of them enjoy the thrill of riding their own bike while others find it a very economical way of commuting each day. The majority of women who do own motorcycles are in their 30’s, they have a family, and they are educated.

More than 80% of the motorcycles women purchase are cruiser models. Sports motorcycles are also very popular. Women prefer a motorcycle that is lighter weight, but they still want the power males crave with many motorcycle models. Today, many of the major motorcycle manufacturers are providing women with options for motorcycles that are light weight yet fast. These manufacturers include Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, and Yamaha.

Harley Davidson offers three models designed specifically for women: the Sportster, DynaGlider Low-Rider, and the XL 1200 Custom. Kawasaki offers women dirt bikes including the Ninja 500R and the ZZR600. Honda has followed suit with the Nighthawk 250CC and the Rebel 250CC. Suzuki offers the 650 Savage, Marauder 800CC, and the 800 Intruder.

If you are considering purchasing a motorcycle designed specifically for a woman, then these models give you plenty to choose from. Make sure you take your time and find the one that fits your body correctly. Sit on the motorcycle and make sure your feet are able to touch the ground on both sides. Make sure it is light enough that you can handle it. If you are struggling with it, then pass it over as you will have difficult controlling it on the road. Look for a motorcycle with a low, narrow seat. You also want long handle bars so that you can ride the motorcycle comfortably. If you plan to ride your motorcycle a great deal, you may consider having one custom built to fit your style and body.

Keep in mind that motorcycles for women are available in models that are recommended for a new rider and some that are for a more experienced operator. Make sure you take this into consideration while you are contemplating the motorcycle to purchase.

There are many online motorcycle clubs for women and magazines as well. Most of them are operated by other female motorcycle owners. This is a great place to ask questions and get valuable information as you look for one of your own. Online websites for female motorcycle owners are a great place to meet other women and to find out about various events and motorcycle rallies. You can even help set up a motorcycle event in your area. Fit out how other female motorcycle owners enjoy their bike. This is also a great place to find out reviews on various models and even to find used bikes for sale.

The stereotype of a “biker chick” is still in the minds of many people, but you would be surprised how many women have passed you on their motorcycle. It is often hard to tell if they are wearing a helmet. As the number of female motorcycle owners continues to grow, you can be sure there will be more models to select from. Manufacturers aren’t going to pass up this target population. The American Motorcyclist Association now has 265,000 registered female motorcycle owners, proving this to be more than a passing fad.

How To Get Free Motorbike Insurance

4:59 am

By Christopher Reinhold

After the initial cost of the motorbike itself, motorbike insurance is often the second greatest cost incurred. However, unbeknownst to some, there are a variety of different ways and methods to receive completely free motorbike insurance.

Premium Current Accounts. A great deal of large national banks offer several different types of Current Accounts. Most people simply open and use a basic Current Account, which carries no monthly fee and is generally completely free to use. However, a lot of banks also offer a range of premium Current Accounts which although charge a monthly fee, come with a whole host of bonuses. Cheaper rates for loans and credit cards are some of the most widely received bonuses with premium Current Accounts, whilst many offer more substantial bonuses, including motor insurance. As long as the monthly fee for the premium Current Account is being paid, the free motorbike insurance will usually be continued as a normal motorbike insurance policy would.

Credit Cards. Similar to premium Current Accounts, a lot of credit cards offer bonuses for either opening a new credit card or using the credit card regularly. Although not as common as with premium Current Accounts, motorbike insurance is available with a certain amount of credit cards, however it is generally only for one year, rather than a year on year policy.

Bonus Accelerator. Increasingly popular, Bonus Accelerator schemes are offered by insurance companies to provide the policy holder with 12 months worth of insurance and therefore a full years No Claims Bonus, in a shorter period of time, which is generally 10 months. Insurance companies very rarely charge extra for the Bonus Accelerator scheme option and can equate to one years free insurance for every 6 years worth of Bonus Accelerator schemes completed.

Purchase a new motorbike. Especially with the current economic climate, many new motorbikes are being offered with incentives for purchases. From free leathers and a helmet, some sales centres are providing a years free motorbike insurance. Fantastic for any rider, these offers are particularly suited to young riders when motorbike insurance can be extremely expensive.

Enter competitions. It may seem like somewhat of a dubious option, but free insurance is a regular prize in many competitions. Along with holidays and vehicles, insurances of all kinds, including motorbike insurance, are becoming increasingly popular prizes in many different competitions. Furthermore, for the price of an envelope and a stamp, motorbike insurance for a year could be won. In addition to these paper or magazine competitions, there are a great deal of websites that provide daily competitions and therefore submitting entries to these can be completely free.

Free motorbike insurance can be a lifeline for many. However, potential insurees have to note that a lot free motorbike insurance policies often have set criteria and they will not provide the free insurance if the criteria is not met. For example, most free motorbike insurance policies will not accept riders with 11 penalty points on their license or if the motorbike is to be used in Europe regularly.

Why Fully Comprehensive Motorcycle Insurance Is Best

4:27 am

By Christopher Reinhold

As the name would suggest, fully comprehensive motorcycle insurance provides the policy holder with the greatest amount of cover motorcycle insurance can offer. From involvement in an accident to theft of the motorcycle from a place of work, a fully comprehensive insurance policy offers the greatest peace of mind for any motorcyclist.

The main benefit this motorcycle insurance type has over other levels of cover is that it protects the policy holder in the event of an accident and not just for any claims made against them from a Third Party.

Therefore if an accident occurs and both parties are injured, the insurance company will not only pay out for any Third Party claims, but also for any claim made by the policy holder themselves.

Furthermore, the claims made by the policy holder can be expansive, including everything from repairs to their motorcycle, or if the motorcycle is a write off, it full market value price, to personal injury. This alone is one of the primary reasons why a fully comprehensive policy is better than other policies, as whilst a great deal of people choose third party, fire and theft motorcycle insurance over fully comprehensive, it does not cover for any claims made by and for the policy holder.

This means that should they be involved in an accident and need to claim for repairs or personal injury, they cannot do so and may be left with a large bill for repairs to their motorcycle.

A further benefit of fully comprehensive motorcycle insurance is simply the amount of extras or bonuses that are regularly offered with the policy. For example, a large amount of companies offer European breakdown cover with all of their fully comprehensive insurance policies. Purchased separately and this can cost a substantial amount.

However, choose an appropriate policy and the policy holder could be riding around Europe, fully insured in the event of an accident and fully covered should they break down or come into difficulties with their motorcycle.

One of the other additions that is often added to completely comprehensive policies is accessories cover. Only a small amount of people purchase this type of insurance separately, as most simply do not know it exists. Accessories cover provides the policy holder with complete protection should any damage be caused to their helmet, leathers or gloves.

Monies will be paid out if the items are repairable upon production of receipts, or if they are irreparable, a set amount of money will be allocated for the purchase of new accessories. In most cases, irreparable damage also constitutes theft, assuming the full and proper measures have been put in place to reduce the risk of theft taking place.

Although there are two other levels of motorcycle insurance available, fully comprehensive is without doubt the most beneficial to the owner. Furthermore, whilst it may generally be the more expensive, if the policy holder has to claim on their insurance for repairs to their motorcycle, the additional amount for the policy will be worth it when compared to the price of the repairs.

Bike Insurance Tips Worth A Read

12:07 am

By Christopher Reinhold

After purchasing a bike, before it can be taken out on the road legally, the owner must have a bike insurance policy that at least covers them for the legal minimum amount, which is Third Party insurance. When taking out a bike insurance policy, there are many things to consider in terms of policy details and reducing the cost of the bike insurance premium.

As with car insurance, any No Claims Discount that is accrued on an insurance policy is strictly for that owner and bike only. The No Claims Discount cannot be transferred to another person, nor can it, coming as somewhat of a surprise to some, be considered when taking out a car insurance policy. If a person drives a car and a motorbike, each insurance policy will accrue its own No Claims Discount and both do not cross or are intertwined in any way, shape or form.

Not generally offered for cars on car insurance policies, many bike insurers often have the option of insuring several bikes under one policy. Known as a multi bike insurance policy, it covers the owner in the event an incident occurs on any of the bikes listed. However, it has to be noted that only the policy holder is covered on the bikes stated.

Holding a multi bike insurance policy is a great way to reduce bike insurance premiums, as rather than having several different policies, a multi bike policy brings them all together in one easy to manage place.

Another way to reduce bike insurance premiums is to simply be focused and safe and to use common sense when riding. Whilst it may sound obvious, many owners have had their bike insurance claims made void after they have claimed their motorbike was stolen, only for the insurance company to discover that the owner left the keys in the ignition.

In addition, owners always choose a bike within theirs means, needs and budget. For example, a brand new, top of the range Superbike may seem like a fantastic bike to own, but due to its high power and performance, insurance companies will raise their premiums to reflect the increased risk that the bike brings. On the converse, a second hand cruising bike, built for comfort and not speed, will have a substantially lower insurance premium as there is less risk of an accident taking place.

Furthermore, as insurance companies base their premiums on the amount of risk that the bike and or owner provide, the easiest way to lower bike insurance premiums is to reduce the amount of time spent on the bike. If the bike is used every day to commute to and from work, as well as for leisure on a weekend, there is more chance of an accident happening, based purely on probability, than if the bike is used for weekend leisure purposes only. With this in mind, if it is possible to reduce the amount of time spent on the bike, then this could be a major factor in receiving a highly competitive bike insurance premium.
